Rules

You must be accepted into the game and have logged in to the forum to begin playing.

Please use correct grammar and be conscious of spelling. This helps other players understand you better. Nobody wants to read 'wuts up guyz, how r ur hroses?'

Please be mature and courteous to other players, especially the Admin. Arguing and other immaturity will not be allowed on the boards, and constant need for reprimanding will result in a warning. After more than one warning, you will be banned.

There are no requirements on visiting the vet, farrier, or owning tack, but please be realistic. If this becomes a problem, it will become a rule.

We reserve the right to ban any member at any time.

Horses: Owning Them

All "playable" horses must be posted in the HDC Registry board upon birth or creation, and thus be assigned a registration number, before being considered active.

New players may only own a total of 10 horses; they may create up to 5 horses, and purchase up to 5 horses until they are upgraded to Mini Barn Status.

You must have a place to keep your horse (i.e. boarding, stables) before they can become active.

There is no limit to the amount of horses you may own, but you may only have up to 20 active horses showing at any time. This means all other horses must be retired (retiring is not permanent). Please be reasonable with the amount of horses you own.

If you become inactive and/or are deleted, we reserve the right to send your horses to the Cedar Falls Adoption Centre.

If your horses are found to be neglected, you will be issued one warning. After that warning, HDC reserves the right to send your horse(s) to the Cedar Falls Adoption Centre in order to find a suitable home, and you will be fined $5,000 per neglected horse.

You may not name your horse after real life/famous horses besides those you own.

Horse Of The Month is a once a month award for popular horses in the game. You may nominate only one of your horses per month to be added to the voting. Voting will be open for 2 days, and at the end of those 2 days, the winner will be announced.

Boarding stables must offer feed in their boarding plans. Please pay attention to this, as you are not responsible for purchasing feed for your horses as a boarder.

Once you are a Stable, or Training Stable, you must be sure to purchase the correct amount of feed for all of your horses. You must keep a record on your stable's website of your feed purchases and amount of feed you currently have.

Horses: Breeding Them

A horse may not be bred before age 3.

One real year is the same as one game year, however you may age your horses whenever you please. If your horse has been bred in the game, you are responsible for making sure all ages are updated. You must get the sire and dam's owner's go-ahead and/or age your own horses accordingly in order to keep all ages correct according to the rules.

A mare may only have one foal per year after her 3 year point (i.e. mare was born in 2000, her first foal can be in 2003, second in 2004, and so on). This means foals may be aged at birth (since the mare's first foal would already be 4). A mare may not give birth to twins unless OK'ed by an Admin as this is very rare in nature.

You may breed as many horses in the game as you wish, within reason.

A horse bred in the game with one or more parent's with Titles will inherit points ranging from 50-400 points depending upon the level. If both parents are Titled, they are added together. Please see the chart below for a better understanding.

If your foal inherits points from titled parents, you must list under the registration the number of inherited points or they will not be added.

All horses must eventually have webpages listing all of their information, including registries and point standings, ASAP. It is very important that you keep them up to date, as your horse's progeny also depend on this information.

Horses: Showing Them

A horse may not be shown under saddle or in driving events until the age of 2.

Horses must be trained in ALL disciplines they are shown.

Horses can be trained by certified trainers only. At the end of a training session, your trainer will give you a write-up of your horse's performance. If your horse's performance was less than stellar, you may want to invest in another session. You may have as many training sessions as you wish for your horses, and obviously, the more the better. You must keep track of these training sessions and present them on your horse's page.

Your horse may be trained in multiple disciplines, but please stay realistic. A horse may be "retired" from one discipline in order to start up another of a completely different style.

Race horses may not be shown unless they are retired and retrained. Once a race horse is retrained they may not go back to racing.

Your horse may not enter more than 5 shows in one day.

Absolutely no classes that involve the injury or potential harm of any animal, especially horses, are allowed. Rodeo events that we may not specifically agree with, but are allowed for the sake of realism are: bronco riding, and steer/calf roping.

Any member may host a show at any time, and it must be posted about in the calendar, which in turn makes a post on the Upcoming Events board. This show may be locked if it is deemed inappropriate until the correct changes have been made.

Horses may only enter up to 12 classes per show. Horses seen entering more than this will be suspended from showing for one week.

There may only be up to 20 classes per show. You may have more classes in your show if you have been approved by an Admin.

HDC's Month End All Discipline Show will be run every month and have all disciplines, as well as award double points.

Entries for shows may be closed between 1 and 5 days. The date entries close must be clearly stated. Shows with longer entry periods will gain more entries.

Results and points must be posted on the Results board within one week of the date the entries closed.

Horses should have the correct tack for the discipline in which they are shown.

Horses should be checked by the vet and be issued a negative Coggins, as well as being shod, to be shown.

Points must be calculated carefully and correctly for every show, below the results. The high point champion of each show should be recognized accordingly. Points may only be doubled at special/year end events but must be OK'ed by an Admin.

Points are as follows
1st - 10pts
2nd - 8 pts
3rd - 6 pts
4th - 4 pts
5th - 2 pts
6th - 1 pts

If a horse is the only horse in a class, they are to be awarded 5 points. The class should not be cancelled.

All points awarded in shows must go to the HDC points, but Associations may have seperate point standings as well.

Horse's with Titles must have their prefixes noted and listed, as these are standings of importance.

Riders

All riders must be registered on the Rider Registration board.

All horses must be shown by a certified rider.

All riders must be certified by a trainer in the disciplines they show.

Riders may not be certified in more than 3 disciplines, not including halter.

You may be a rider for your own stable, but you may only show as a professional (i.e. no youth, amature, etc.). You may show in Ladies, Pro, and Open classes.

A rider may only enter a class once.

Riders may show an unlimited amount of horses, just not all in the same classes.

A rider may be registered in any division that pertains to them (i.e. John Doe a novice rider who is an adult male may be registered in the Amateur, Open, and Gentleman's divisions).

Youths may not show stallions in any class.

Riders may be certified as professionals by being certified 3 seperate times in that discipline by a trainer (at least one month of showing in their current divisions in between certifications).

Any and all changes made to riders, including divisions, must be posted about on the Information Change board.

Divisions-
Youth - Under 18 (Cannot show stallions)
Amateur - Novice riders
Open - Open to any riders except youths (Stallions permitted)
Ladies - Open to all adult female riders (No stallions)
Gentleman's - Open to all adult males
Pro - Professionals only (stable owners, riders 3x certified)

Money

Every member starts out with $200,000.

You must keep track of every amount gained and spent in checks. We suggest using Wordpad or Notepad to keep track of every check you write and receive. You may also use the Bank board for this reason.

You are able to be awarded quite a bit of money with Active Rewards. This is HDC's way of rewarding you for being active each month. For more information, please click here.

You must have an account and update your grand total on the Bank board at least once a month.

We reserve the right to ask for full bank statements at any time, so please be prepared. It is a good idea to have them posted on your website, or in the appropriate board.

If you are found to be not keeping track of your finances, overspending, or cheating, you will be fined $50,000 and be issued a warning. After more than one warning, you will be banned.

Stables, Associations, and Businesses

You must be a member for at least one week in order to own any type of establishment.

You are able to become a mini-barn at your 10 day mark. The person you choose to board your horses under and house your mini-barn with will also become your mentor.

When you have successfully run a mini-barn for one week, you may upgrade to a Stable with the approval of your mentor and the purchase of your facilities.

All establishments and upgrades must be announced through the Upgrades board. This must include a link to a website.

Please be sure you have all your ideas, design, etc. completely together before announcing your establishment. The way you present your future establishment is what we base our acceptance and denying on.

No matter what the establishment, the proper facilities must be purchased. A business establishment is $15,000, a Stable costs $25,000, and a Training Stable costs $35,000.

You may choose to have a Boarding Stable or a Private Stable. You must wait one week after becoming a Stable before having boarders, and if and when you decide to open your doors to boarders you must post about it in the Boarding section detailing boarding plans and prices.

At the end of your first two weeks of being a Stable, you may choose to become a Training Stable. You must pass a short test about the discipline(s) in which you would like to train in order to be certified. You must also give a mock write-up of the results of a training session, as with each horse you train, you will have to present the horse owner with the outcome. This upgrade costs $10,000.

Associations must be announced and voted on (by a poll) in the Association board. The poll may stay open for a maximum of seven days. Once you reach 5 yes's, you will be approved as the Association owner. If you do not reach 5 yes's by the end of 7 days, you may again open voting for the Association in one month. You will be expected to have a website completed for the Association within 7 days of being approved, and you must hold an Association show at least once a month thereafter. Associations are a first come, first serve basis.

HDC reserves the right to change owners of Associations if their previous owners become inactive or are unable to handle the workload.

Businesses must also be voted on (by a poll) in the Businesses board. You MUST post a website and/or prices and examples (where applicable) with the poll. The poll may stay open for a maximum of seven days. You must have 5 yes's within the seven days in order to open your business. If you do not achieve 5 yes's, you may open the poll for voting again in one month, but you must make significant changes or improvements or your thread will be deleted. You must have a website for your business within 7 days of being approved, but it is suggested to have one to begin with for possible future customers to look at.
